Here is a great post from friend and Advocare Diamond, Matt Warren:

Sometimes while on the weight loss journey, the scale stops moving…

Our bodies may be taking a break and we just need to persist…

But sometimes it might be helpful to “mix things up”…

Some Fitness & Nutrition & Advocare Tips to Consider

Fitness:

  • There are 3 variables we control: frequency, duration, and intensity
  • Frequency: how many times per week are you working out?  Might be time to bump it up to 5 days per week.
  • Duration: how long are your workouts?  Might be time to bump the workout from 30 mins to 45 mins.
  • Intensity: how focused and intense are your workouts?  Might be time to weave in some interval training, super-sets, CrossFit, etc.

*In my opinion, the 2 most important variables are frequency and intensity; high quality workouts 4-5 days per week is a recipe for success – can you claim you’re doing that?

Nutrition & Lifestyle:

  • Food: might be time for some strict carbo counting – are you staying around or under 100 grams of carbs per day?  The only way to justify more would be if you’re training for competition, trying to gain weight, or accommodating a specific nutritional issue per Dr’s recommendations…
  • Water: being hydrated helps your metabolism by around 25%, I make myself have daily “focused chugging sessions” to stay on target
  • Binging?  Avoid “episodes” of nutritional disaster… don’t wreck yourself on the weekends and then try to spend all week erasing the damage
  • Wine?  Alcohol is a “volumizer”, you’ll retain water and your metabolism will function slower.  You may want to abstain or minimize until your goal is achieved, then it’s about moderation for maintenance.
  • Simplicity: keep in mind that food is energy for living, 95% of the time hopefully we’re thinking about food in terms of fuel rather than pleasure.

Advocare Nutritionals:

  • Rehydrate: an unsung hero of Advocare – consider using Rehydrate in the afternoon and after dinner to combat false hunger cravings
  • ThermoPlus: helps burn additional fat & cals
  • Meal Replacement Shakes: for some, this product can have a “volumizing” effect, consider laying off the shakes if that’s you and you’ve plateaued in your weight loss.  Remember, this product is a builder, it is not a “weight loss” product.  For some it’s helpful with initial weight loss in the 24 Day Challenge, but I’d advise experimenting to figure out if it’s meant to be a long term product for you. Every body and metabolism is different.  Maybe you can successfully “cycle” on and off of them?  Experiment and do what works for YOUR body. (Amber has a Meal Replacement Shake every morning.  For me, whole food works best)
  • MNS (Metabolic Nutrition System): this is a key nutritional for optimal metabolism
  • Cleanse: might be time for a strict cleanse; when I’m looking for a cleanse to make a major impact, I’ll do only fruit until noon each day.
  • My morning?  MNS Max3, Catalyst (3), ThermoPlus (2), washed down with Spark & Arginine Extreme combo

If you’re experiencing a lull in your weight loss journey, chances are there are some variables above that will make the difference for you.  It’s up to you to give yourself a brutally honest assessment, then begin the action & experimentation process.  If there is any doubt or question about the above options, run it by your health care provider.

I lost 17 pounds and I finished the 24 day challenge. I started at 178 and then the lowest I weighed was 161, now im gaining a few pounds and then losing a few , back and forth. I know it says I should only do the herbal cleanse every 90 days but that’s really when I lost all my weight, ive bought all this extra crap from advocare, the thermoplus and all that and its not helping. Why can u only do the herbal cleanse every 90 days? What are the bad side effects? Im afraid im gonna gain all my weight back and blow all my money buying all these extra products that aren’t helping at all.

Continue with the Phase 2. Be sure you are watching portion control and drinking lots of water in addition to Spark. Get some exercise.
The doctors on the Scientific Medical Board at Advocare advise us to use the cleanse every 90 days.

Hi, I have just finished the 24 day challenge and lost a good amount of weight but mainly on the cleanse. I have been following your instructions like it says and eating very healthy and added 30 mins of cardio plus a workout video to my routine to try to loose the max weight. But I had noticed on the 2 phase my weight loss started platoueing. That was when I started upping the cardio and still only noticed no weight loss or 2 ounces here or there. Now that I am done with the challenge I have ordered more stuff to continue my goal.

My question is can I up the intake of ThermoPlus to 2 pills a day to help promote the calorie burn since I am doing everything I feel I can possibly do. Feeling discouraged.

Hello. Is it okay if I take Thermo Plus twice a day? Bottle says daily and read the timeline trim and recommends 30 minutes before breakfast and that’s all I saw. I asked a Diamond Distributor and was told it’s okay to take twice on an empty stomach like before lunch or mid afternoon prior to dinner. Now, I’m confused. Help!

I’m on day 1. My distributor told me a LITTLE white dressing and mozzarella cheese was ok as well as any nuts and a little red meat. She told me to only take 2 omega plex at dinner everyday and to start the catalyst day 11. Yesterday a different distributor told me I shouldn’t have had any white dressing no cheese and no peanuts and I found I was only taking 3 catalyst instead of 6. Did I mess everything up? I appreciate any feedback have only lost 5-6 lbs

I’m on day 12 of my challenge, I was told I could any type of raw unsalted nuts and have only a little white dressing and to mozz cheese and to stay away from red meat. Yesterday a different distributor told me no peanuts no white sauces no cheese no red meat. My original distributed also had me start catalyst day 11 and to take ONE before breakfast lunch and at night and to only take 2 omega plex EVERDAY at dinner. Have I messed up horribly? Only like 6-7 lbs :/

I’m on day 9 of my challenge, I lost 4-5 pounds in the first 6 days… but then I went up 2 in the last two days. I am following the food and product guide very strictly. I was not exercising prior to the challenge, I just went full force everything on day one.
I have been getting in a 3 mile jog (with breathers) five days a week so far, my goal is to do 6-7 days now on week two. I also add in pushups, crunches, lunges, squats, and planks (3-4 days a week).

My initial goal for the challenge was 14 lbs, but that is not likely if my weight loss remains consistent at 2 pounds per week. I am slightly discouraged because I know so many others that have drastic results in just the first ten days, and I have hardly any. Overall, I feel better, but I’d really like to see better progress.

My diet prior to this was very poor, I ate whatever and whenever. And I was not exercising. I feel like I should certainly be seeing some results, if not extreme results. I have not went of the diet even once yet.

Does anyone know what is going on? Have I completely thrown my body into shock? It’s really not cooperating with me lol. If anyone has any insight or suggestions I would appreciate it.

I’m not going to slow down or quit the challenge. I am still going to attempt to achieve the most out of the 24 product and challenge.

I’m on day 20 of the challenge and am happy to report I have lost 14 pounds. I still have 30 pounds to go so I am going to continue with the 14 day max c packets. I am hoping to continue with my success.

I just completed my 24 day challenge. I lost 20 lbs and 14.5 inches all over. I was consistently hungry, but i told myself only 24 days and i did it. Im going to do the 10 day cleanse again in november to try to lose another 10 to 15 pounds. If i had to recomend something to people I would recomend the 10 day cleanse, thats when I lost the majority of my weight. In order for this diet to work properly, you have to follow it strictly and drink the proper amount of water. In the end its all worth it. Go Advocare.

My wife completed the 24 day challenge. She list 12lbs & 8″. However the final week it stopped and even though she is pleased with the results there was dissapointment that it did not continue to come off compared to previous diet attempts. She rarely exercises but didn’t before either. She is looking to lose on a consistent basis on the 72 day. I added thermo plus along w/ bio tools and will encourage her to exercise with the DVD.

    Hi!
I was wondering what you mean by the meal replacements being “Volumizing” I saw a greater weight loss on the cleanse than I did in the 2nd phase. Now I am on my 2nd challenge and no weight loss so far. I was wondering if maybe it had to do with the shakes.
Also, you said sometimes you do all fruit until noon for a serious cleanse. What is better for weight loss? Protein like eggs or only fruit or a combination? Please be specific – I need it!
    Thank you so much.

You need protein! Hard boiled eggs and fruit are great during the cleanse. If not losing, use the meal replacement shakes without fruit during Phase 2. Also, watch your carb intake to no more than 100 a day, and no more than 30 per meal. This includes veggies.

I am on day 7 of the 10 day cleanse. By day 4 I had lost 7 pounds! I realize that a lot of this is water weight. I have done cardio each day for anywhere from 30-45 minutes and have also done an ab and arm workout each day. I got on the scale this morning and it said I have gained 2 pounds! Is this normal with the new workout routine? (I wasn’t working out any prior to beginning my cleanse). Any advice? Continuing the 24 day challenge and workout schedule I am on, when is a good time to expect the number on the scale to start dropping agin? Thanks!

Are you following these instructions? Some people have slower loss during first phase and increase their loss on Phase 2.

Yes, that is what I meant by I am following all of the instructions. I am on day 22 now. I have continued to lose 2 pounds per week, which is what you should lose with “normal” dieting. I don’t consider the restrictions and cost involved with Advocare to be “normal” dieting. What do you suggest?

If I am excercising at least 3-5 days of the week and eating pretty good meals with snacks in between and and taking the spark, catalyst and omega and fiber in mornings, does it matter what time my last meal is? Is 6meals including snacks ok?

Hi. I started advocare 3weeks ago. Didn’t do the challenge because I only need to lose 10lbs and I think I can do it by myself so I am using catalyst and thermoplus to help me. I’m on a diet of 1400cals eating low fat yougurt for breakfast, salads wIth boIled chIcken and fruits like grapes and oranges for lunch and for dinner meat and beans with lots of water. I do exercise 5days a week for 1.5hr but I haven’t seen any change in my weight and I hate it! I don’t want to think the pills are not working or that is me. But the only change I’ve seen is energy. Thats all. What can I do!!! Help me please!!!
